When we first make contact, we will talk either on the phone or via email to discuss briefly what you want and to ensure your needs are suited to private psychotherapy.
We can arrange a free 15-minute consultation over the phone, or video call if preferred. This call is an opportunity to tell me a bit about yourself and your reasons for seeking therapy at this time. I can also share a bit about me, to make sure we seem like a good ‘match’. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important predictors of positive change, so this call is a good chance to test out how and whether we work together.
Our first few sessions are spent building a ‘map’ to understand how your past relates to your present. From there, we work together towards a future vision, addressing both short and longer term difficulties.
Occasionally, positive change happens very quickly and you may only need a few sessions. On average, people have around 8-18 sessions of therapy. For those who might wish to mine deeper, I can provide longer-term or open-ended service.
